Abstract

The research aimed to update the information on the flora of Franz Josef Land. The materials were collected in 2011, mainly in the area of Cape Sedov, on Hooker Island ( 80°337'N 52°776'E), as well as in parts of the southern slope of Roubini Rock (80°18'54''N 52°50'12''E), near bird colonies (80°18'54''N 52°50'12''E) and on the south-east coast of Scott-Keltie Island (80°19'29''N 52°33'31''E). At present, a large part of the studied area is exposed to strong anthropogenic impacts from disembarkation of tourist groups. We identified 25 species of vascular plants out of 57 registered on the archipelago. Draba fladnizensis Wulfen is a new species for Franz Josef Land flora. Among rare species for this area we found Potentilla hyparctica, Oxyria digyna and Saxifraga platysepala. No alien plant species were discovered in man-made habitats. Disturbed areas are overgrown solely by native plants: Cardamine bellidifolia, Cerastium regelii, Luzula nivalis, Papaver polare, Phippsia algida, Saxifraga cespitosa, S. cernua, and Stellaria edwardsii. At the same time, some common and abundant in natural habitats species, such as Alopecurus alpinus and Ranunculus sulphureus, were not found in transformed areas.
