Abstract

The article states the problem of creating a forest road monitoring system and analyses the data domain and means of remote sensing, thereby identifying major road defects and technology for their detection. Key objectives of monitoring the status of forest roads were singled out, allowing us to develop monitoring methodology using remote sensing data. This methodology takes into account the specific objects of interpretation, the recommended period of photography, image resolution and spectral range. The article defines the interpretive features of forest roads and suggests new approaches to the treatment of spatial information of the forest road network.
